Melahat Yildirim earned her medical degree from Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey, in 2000. She began her career as a family physician, working in various regions of Turkey before deciding to specialize in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Melahat completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Turgut Ozal University in Ankara and subsequently practiced as an OB/GYN physician for over 10 years. Throughout her career, she provided care for patients with both low- and high-risk pregnancies and has published numerous articles on pregnancy-related topics in local and international journals. Additionally, she holds a certificate in assisted reproductive technologies.
In 2020, Melahat moved to Canada and pursued midwifery, completing the Midwifery Post-Baccalaureate Program for Health Professionals at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 2022. She is excited to bring her extensive experience and passion for maternal care to Family Care Midwives.
Melahat is fluent in both English and Turkish and is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to the families she serves.
